Abstract

The Recurrent dislocation of the patella is almost always to the lateral side and may have some basic defect in anatomy of the knee region.
The surgery is the treatment of choice for recurrent dislocation of the patella. But, no one type of operation can be useful for all recurrent dislocations of the patella, especially in children.
The surgical treatment in growing children is unsatisfactory because of risks of damaging epiphyseal plate and chondromalacia~of its articular surface.
A case of the recurrent dislocation of the patella observed in 11 year old Korean boy is reported, in which the authors performed operation consisting of the semitendinosus tenodesis and distal transplantation of the tibial tubercle.
At post-operativ 14 weeks, good results was obtained with full range of motion, no pain, and no crepitus of Lt. knee joint and without loss of function and recurrence.
